Coastal Willow (Salix hookeriana) is a fast-growing native deciduous shrub valued for beach stabilization, erosion control, and water management in wet coastal environments. Reaching 6–27 ft tall and 15–20 ft wide, it features broad, soft gray-green leaves and blooms from March through May. This species thrives in full sun to part shade, prefers moist to wet soils, requires frequent summer water, and tolerates extended or constant flooding, making it especially well suited to warm climates with high rainfall or standing water.
Native to a narrow zone along the Pacific Coast from British Columbia through California, with localized populations extending to southern Alaska, Hooker Willow naturally grows in sand dunes, coastal swales, beach ridges, salt marsh edges, wet meadows, and streambanks. Its dense root system and thicket-forming habit provide excellent soil retention, wind buffering, and shoreline protection, while also supporting butterflies, bees, hummingbirds, caterpillars, and beneficial insects.
These willows are grown in a 1 gallon container and the plant will average 24" - 30" in height. Grown by a horticulturist and professionally packaged to ensure the highest quality.
